The Artistic Design team at G Michael Salon in Indianapolis, Indiana is STILL obsessed with Balayage and here’s why:
Balayage is French meaning “to sweep”. When a stylist is coloring or lightening the hair, the majority of the brush strokes are horizontal in nature to coat the front and back of the hair strands. In balayage, the stylist uses a technique that “sweeps” vertically with the tip of the brush. This technique creates natural, custom-placed highlights, much like that of a child’s tresses, kissed by the sun.
It’s simple really…Balayage is hands down the most popular hair color trend since Audrey Hepburn debuted those iconic game-changing highlights as Holly Golightly in ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’. I couldn’t help but notice that the Cannes Film Festival had really only two common trends. The celebrities that we saw photographed on the Cote d’Azur were either sporting solid, one-dimensional color (which appears to be making a huge comeback at the moment), or they were highlighted with the balayage technique. While Ombrè is more or less, a trend of the past, Balayage is still the preferred highlighting method, even for the world’s biggest stars.
Just this past Sunday, G Michael Salon’s Design Team had the opportunity to train with a Master Color Expert brought to us by our product line, Wella Professional. We’ve been perfecting the balayage technique for quite a long time now, but we always enjoy learning more about all of the available process that can be used, and the chemistry behind creating the perfect tones desired by our guests.
Top Indianapolis Hair Stylist and resident G Michael Salon professional, Anessa, said that her favorite part of the balayage training was learning about the use of the newest product in our arsenal which will now become a helpful tool for freehand highlights. This new product, called Blondor Freelights by Wella Professional and is quite possibly the best available tool on the market for enabling creative hand-painting without the use of foils, making it extremely eco-friendly. Anessa loved the addition of this product and learning about the chemical components that allows the product to stay in place after applied to the hair without swelling or bleeding.
This highly coveted hair color trend is simply here to stay. It is low maintenance, eco-friendly, unique and customizable, and truly looks amazing on everyone. We feel so privileged to be a team that is sought out for our expertise in custom color techniques like this one. Now, more than ever, is the time to secure your appointment with G Michael Salon to achieve your own custom balayage hair color and brighten up your look for what looks like is going to be another amazing Indiana summer.
